Kauna’oa (Mauna Kea) Beach

Kauna’oa Beach, also known as Mauna Kea Beach, is a stunning white sand beach in Hawai’i. It is highly recommended by travelers to arrive early (before 9 a.m.) in order to secure one of the limited parking spots available at Kauna’oa. Once there, you can spend the majority of your day enjoying this beautiful beach. The sandy shore, resembling the color of eggshells, offers various activities to keep you entertained. Snorkeling is a popular choice, particularly at the ends of the beach. Additionally, you can try bodyboarding or join a casual game of volleyball.

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection is located near the beach, providing easy access for visitors. To reach the beach, you’ll need to travel approximately 30 miles north of Kailua-Kona, off Highway 19 and close to mile marker 68. Restrooms and showers are conveniently available for beachgoers. If you start feeling hungry, you can enjoy a meal at one of the resort’s restaurants. As for parking, there are about 30 free public beach parking spots. However, if they’re all occupied, valet parking is available for a fee of $30 if you’re dining at the resort for lunch.
