A place like no other near Sanibel Island in Florida
Since 1984, this charming village has been pieced together with care. It consists of 10 buildings, out of which nine were brought from different parts of Sanibel to their current location for preservation purposes. These structures, ranging from 1896 to 1927, include a schoolhouse, cottages, a tea room, and a packing house. Each building features audio recordings that bring to life the rich history of Sanibel, spanning several centuries. You’ll discover fascinating information about the indigenous Calusa tribes, as well as the fishermen and farmers who shaped Sanibel’s past. Presently, the village is undergoing reconstruction due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, and its reopening date remains uncertain.
