Located atop Table Mesa, a famous landmark featured in Woody Allen’s “Sleeper,” this magnificent sandstone building is dedicated to studying weather-related phenomena like ozone depletion and the greenhouse effect. Scientists use various tools such as weather balloons, satellites, and robots to conduct experiments, and you can see some of these tools during your visit. There are also interactive exhibits that will surely ignite the curiosity of any aspiring meteorologist in your family. Once you’ve explored the center, take a breath of fresh air on the Walter Orr Roberts Nature and Weather Trail, where you can learn about the wildlife of Table Mesa.
Join the guided tours at the center, offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. These tours are a great opportunity to learn more about the center with friendly and knowledgeable guides who are excited to answer any questions you may have. If you prefer a more independent experience, you can also take a tablet or cellphone tour. Whichever option suits you best, make sure to allocate some time to explore the center on your own.
