A place like no other near Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a famous and somewhat controversial addition to the area surrounding the Grand Canyon. It’s a big semicircular bridge that has a see-through glass floor, giving tourists the thrilling experience of walking 70 feet out from the canyon rim and looking down at the bottom from a height of 4,000 feet. The Skywalk is located outside the park on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, specifically in a place called Grand Canyon West. Some people who prefer the natural beauty of the area initially criticized the construction of the Skywalk, but it has become a popular attraction since its opening in 2007, drawing millions of visitors.
The skywalk is located quite far from both the South Rim and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It takes approximately four hours by car from Grand Canyon Village to reach the skywalk. Due to this distance, recent travelers advised that a visit to the skywalk would require an entire day. Some visitors expressed disappointment with the skywalk, particularly when comparing it to the South Rim. Interestingly, those who hadn’t visited the national park’s South Rim but had experienced the skywalk seemed to enjoy their time more than those who had seen the canyon in the park.
